Sustainability
Sustainability to me is defined as leaving the smallest ecological footprint possible on this earth. Today, we are experiencing the affects from our ecological footprints in the past. For example, global warming is starting to take a drastic effect on our climate and it is due to our overuse of fossil fuels. Since fossil fuels are a known limited resource, we weren't being sustainable when the car was invented because one day we won't be able to use gasoline powered cars. There are many other resources that are limited such as water that needs to be sustained. Since there is only 1% of it on this earth we need to cherish it but because we don't, that's why there are people in third world countries suffering from water shortages. The significance of these issues is that they could have been prevented and should have been prevented because when you take natural resources for granted, there will be a punishment down the road. So for me personally to represent sustainability I live my life as green as possible. I take short showers, turn off the water in between shaving, recycle, ride my skateboard where I need to go, and only buy things that are energy efficient or environment friendly. Like Gandhi says "Live simply so that others simply live." I live by this motto because I want my future generations to experience the world as a beautiful place, rather than just a mine.
